Just discovered a dynamic DNS service I have been using completely changed their API in ... (check notes) December 2024. About time I realized that!

Fortunately. mdns.org the backup dynDNS service managed by @SDF is still working, so I have got that going for me, which is nice.

It's always cool to be able to run stuff on your own #Slackware machines, you know? I am weird like that.

Service announcement (for myself and all ye geeks):

For all that newish Wayland KDE Hypr *SD Niri Atomic-or-composable dinit shizzle:

I love it all (you know I do), but nothing comes close atm to my Slackware dwm in productivity. And fun!

It-just-works.

GeekTalk:
Spending your working day in FreeBSD KDE 6, whilst simultaneously installing the KDE minimal package set on AerynOS.
More detailed reporting in the coming days, but let me assure you FreeBSD also has the latest KDE Gear and Plasma 6.4.4.1., hot on the heels of the fastest KDE spin out there, Slackware. Impressive!

Heads-up: I am migrating slackware.nl to a different host on 14-aug

Before the summer holiday ends and people start hammering my download servers again, I am going to that which I announced a while ago. In order to deal with increasing load on my main server I have been planning a re-distribution of its services to multiple new hosts. The most important one - docs.slackware.com - was moved on June 17th. But the main package mirror and the git repositories…

Alpine finished -- Closed "INBOX". Kept 124 messages and removed 1830.

Hmmm... I hsould probably reduce the verbosity of some logs... 🤔

Under #Slackware this will probably do the trick:

$ grep -i gnome /etc/pam.d/system-auth
# -auth optional pam_gnome_keyring.so
# -session optional pam_gnome_keyring.so auto_start

Let's see if the situation improves...

Seeing how #Slackware's LQ forum has become a cesspit of morons and gatekeepers, I have come to appreciate @alien's work and demeanor even more. He doesn't claim to speak for Pat and he gets very useful work done for the community. That's really something to admire.

That took exactly two weeks and a bit.

Your laptop shouldn't be just a workhorse, it is an expression of you, used for work as well.

Hence my install of Slackware KDE on it, it was by far the best I used for the past year or so.

With a ThinkPad X13 gen 1 liveslaks turned out to be a bit of a challenge, but conferring with @jloc0 in the background eventually fixed it.
Afaik strictly only with this laptop, never had it before. Solved by Ventoy.

Now I gotta deal with two slacker0ni installs (kde and nwg-shell, running 4 wm's) 🤪🥳 thnx Jay!

In a bizarre trip down memory lane for the history of #Slackware, I've successfully installed #SlackwareARM 14.2 on my #RaspberryPi 1B.

It's painfully slow, and not particularly practical, as I can only connect online (probably a bad idea) using ethernet tethering from my #ThinkPad, also running Slackware. But it's pretty nice, and it was a hell of a lot of fun getting it running from the guide on the #SlackDocs wiki.

@mozes Simply amazing work you've done over the years :-)
