Brian Dear<p>Got crickets for this on Bluesky. Let’s check the ‘don:</p><p>Ongoing BAFFLEMENT w/ <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/podcast" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>podcast</span></a> world.</p><p>Prolly spend 10-15+ hrs a week listening to podcasts.</p><p>Amazed at how bad, slow, primitive, anti-discovery, cumbersome, podcast apps still are. In 2025!</p><p>And <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RSS</span></a>! Love it but it is to podcasting what MIDI is to music: desperately needing improvement. Richer data types, fully structured data about show/episode details, I mean, come ON!</p>
Miguel Afonso Caetano<p>This article doesn't start very well, specially because the author goes right into a conspirational mode. Maybe most Internet users don't want to deal with XML as a format and Google, being a capitalist for-profit company, wants just to appease those Internet users... </p><p>"Google is managing to achieve what Microsoft couldn't: killing the open web. The efforts of tech giants to gain control of and enclose the commons for extractive purposes have been clear to anyone who has been following the history of the Internet for at least the last decade, and the adopted strategies are varied in technique as they are in success, from Embrace, Extend, Extinguish (EEE) to monopolization and lock-in.</p><p>What I want to talk about in this article is the war Google has been waging on XML for over a decade, why it matters that they've finally encroached themselves enough to get what they want, and what we can do to fight this."</p><p><a href="https://wok.oblomov.eu/tecnologia/google-killing-open-web/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">wok.oblomov.eu/tecnologia/goog</span><span class="invisible">le-killing-open-web/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/Google" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Google</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/XML" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>XML</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/OpenWeb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenWeb</span></a> <a href="https://tldr.nettime.org/tags/RSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RSS</span></a></p>
A literal pile of mushrooms<p>I'm still going to use Codeberg to share the CLI tool that <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://merveilles.town/@metasyn" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>metasyn</span></a></span> made for me to generate RSS for my site. I'm on a fresh machine so I went through the process of installing from scratch and tried to update the docs to be a little more comprehensive. I spent a long time learning about lxml while trying to understand why the original venv was no longer compatible, but have found a way to make everything work without it for now. <a href="https://codeberg.org/pixouls/PixelRSS/src/branch/main/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">codeberg.org/pixouls/PixelRSS/</span><span class="invisible">src/branch/main/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://post.lurk.org/tags/RSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RSS</span></a> <a href="https://post.lurk.org/tags/indieWeb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indieWeb</span></a> <a href="https://post.lurk.org/tags/codeberg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>codeberg</span></a> <a href="https://post.lurk.org/tags/openSource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>openSource</span></a> <a href="https://post.lurk.org/tags/smolWeb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>smolWeb</span></a></p>

Trixter of the Moon Council<p>Edit: Thank you all for your suggestions! I’m going to give Miniflux a try for now but I’ll take another look at everyone’s suggestions if I bounce off it.</p><p>Hey Fedi! I’m absolutely done with Feedly’s obsession with AI so I’m looking for RSS reader suggestions. My primary use case is reading from an office environment so something browser-based that doesn’t involve installing anything is ideal, I use iOS/MacOS at home but that’s optional. I don’t mind paying a small subscription for the right tool but I don’t need “features”, I just need an RSS reader. (Not opposed to something that also catches your newsletters, which seems to be an option now.)</p><p>Thanks!</p><p><a href="https://retro.pizza/tags/RSS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RSS</span></a> <a href="https://retro.pizza/tags/recommend" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>recommend</span></a></p>
