StefanAfter a number of easier tours this winter, this time we wanted to do something a bit more challenging. We decided to acend the Pfannenstock starting at lake Klöntal. The route up the Rossmatter Tal to Chäseren Alp we partly hat to carry our skis due to the lack of snow. Then with a traverse of a steep flank below a rock ledge up to the Dräggloch. From here, our destination for the day was in sight for the first time. The ascent to Brunnalp is quite leisurely on hilly terrain. The ascent to the summit then becomes steeper and steeper up to the ski depot. Between Chäseren Alp and the ski depot we were all alone. There we met others who had ascended from Bisisthal. We then climbed the last 100 meters up to the summit with ice axes and crampons. It would have been possible without crampons, but I felt more comfortable with them.
At the summit we had a wonderful panoramic view. Glärnisch, Tödi, Clariden and many more.
On the descent, we were able to enjoy untracked powder on the north-facing slopes. We skinned up three times for the intermediate ascents before finally returning to the valley. Exhausted and happy.
According to the GPS track:
26.5km, 1860m up and down.
