Aber Firefox-Forks wie <a href="https://fedifreu.de/tags/Librewolf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Librewolf</a>, <a href="https://fedifreu.de/tags/Ironfox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Ironfox</a> und <a href="https://fedifreu.de/tags/Zenbrowser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Zenbrowser</a> sind nur eine <a href="https://vmst.io/@jalefkowit/114082845349499312" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Übergangslösung</a>. Und WebKit-Browser lassen sich nicht mit AddOns wie uBlock Origin anpassen.Wo bleiben die alternativen Rendering-Engines? Da gibt zum einen <a href="https://ladybird.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ladybird</a>. Das sah lange nach einem Ein-Mann-Projekt aus, aber inzwischen ist es eine Organisation. Ob es da mittlerweile mehrere Entwickler:innen gibt, wäre zu prüfen. (Update: Laut FAQ arbeiten 7 Vollzeitentwickler:innen an Ladybird, aber eine Alphaversion wird erst im Sommer 2026 erwartet.)Außerdem wird weiterhin an der bei Mozilla entstandenen Next-Generation-Engine <a href="https://floss.social/@servo" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@servo</a> gearbeitet, obwohl Mozilla das Rust-Team gefeuert hat, dem diese Engine zu verdanken ist. Die beiden auf Servo basierenden Browser Servoshell und Verso sind leider noch nicht alltagstauglich. Ich habe sie heute ausprobiert, damit ihr es nicht tun müsst.Ich stimme <a href="https://mastodon.online/@larsmb" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@larsmb</a> zu, der <a href="https://mastodon.online/@larsmb/114088481954702463" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">schreibt</a>, dass Servo und Verso das Zeug hätten, den Browser zu bauen, den die User sich wünschen – einer, der in ihrem Interesse arbeitet. Dafür sollte es Fördermittel geben – auch öffentliche, steuerfinanzierte. floTja, Firefox - nicht so ganz transparent, was die jetzt mit den Daten ihrer Nutzenden anfangen wollen. Es gibt einige spannende Firefox Forks, die hohen Datenschutz versprechen, wie zB LibreWolf, ZenBrowser, Mullvad, Mercury und Tor. Wer Firefox nicht mehr nutzen möchte, Google mit ihrem Chrome-Browser aber auch nicht so richtig vertraut, könnte zB UnGoogled Chromium nutzen, der alle Verbindungen zu Google kappt. Eine weitere Alternative wäre zB Vivaldi, was zwar auch auf Chromium aufsetzt, aber wo es heißt: "Wir wollen eure Daten nicht, uns interessiert nicht, was ihr mit dem Browser macht." Aktuell werden vollständig neue Rendering Engines und darauf aufsetzende Browser entwickelt, wie zB Verso, der auf eine in Rust geschriebene Engine namens Servo setzt: <a href="https://github.com/versotile-org/verso" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">github.com/versotile-org/verso</a> Oder Ladybird, der vollständig eigenständig und unabhängig von allen anderen Browser Engines entwickelt wird (Alpha für 2026 erwartet): <a href="https://ladybird.org" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">ladybird.org</a> Brave ist auch sehr beliebt, aber der CEO tätigte vor Jahren eine LGBTTIQ*-feindliche Aussage, weswegen ich den Browser hier nicht empfehlen möchte. And for some good reasons. There's a lot that seems pretty decent.Please just don't overlook that it's a proprietary UI/apps over the monopoly <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Chromium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Chromium</a> / <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Blink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Blink</a> engine.This is not the FOSS replacement for an <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/OpenSource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#OpenSource</a> browser on an alternative render engine.Yeah, there's no easy answers atm, although I would suggest contributing to <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Verso" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Verso</a> any way you can!
