I need like 50 of me that all share the same brain. Just today I've wanted to pickup and learn more new hobbies than I could fit in a lifetime and my brain has already started thinking through all of them. I wanted to design retro inspired modern electronics and have been thinking through what that design language would look like. I researched how to better model things for 3D printing and what types of models work best for what manufacturing processes, then tried to think of CAD projects I could do to practice modeling. I want to design circuit boards and build a custom GameBoy and am thinking of how I could practice micro-soldering before I take off the CPU and ram of a broken GBA motherboard I don't even have. I want to make pixel art and learn game dev to make my own pixel art game and am already thinking through the technical limitations of game engines.

BUT instead I sit overwhelmed on the couch thinking about my finances. Depressed and defeated with the reality that capitalism doesn't allow for people like me. People who want to explore lots of things, who want to keep learning new skills, who have many interests in many even unrelated topics. People who can't do the same thing 9 to 5 everyday and be happy. Knowing every second I entertain these interests is just another second spent not "being productive" and is another second in the "gap" in my resume. Besides hobbies are what we do to "get away from work" and if I don't have a job to suck the life from me I don't deserve to have hobbies.

Is the art of letter writing dead? Rachel Syme, a New Yorker staff writer, doesn't think so. She started a letter-exchanging program called PenPalooza during the early days of the pandemic. Now, she's written a book of advice on finding a penpal and writing a good letter. Her book, "Syme's Letter Writer: A Guide to Modern Correspondence," which was published in January, also offers inspiration in the form of letters from people like Octavia Butler and Zelda Fitzgerald. Here's @npr's interview with Syme. We want to know: Are you a letter writer, or — like us — have you not sent a handwritten note since 1988's epistolary masterpiece, thanking your Auntie Tríona for the pencil case?

Good morning. 🌻🌻🌻

I loved fishing as a kid, and that passion carried into adulthood, though not as much as before. When I was nearing retirement, I considered buying a boat, but after some thought, I realized it would likely be a mistake. I learned that lesson from owning a 10-year-old Harley-Davidson motorcycle that now just takes up space in my garage. In a decade, I only put 10,000 miles on it—averaging 1,000 miles per year, but most of those were likely racked up in the first year. Instead of a boat, I decided to invest in a camera—or rather, cameras. If I had a pond in my backyard, I'd probably fish there, but since I don't, I grab my camera and head outside. Stop me if you've heard this before. 😉
